Medicare Products

When I start my Part C (Medicare Advantage) and Part D (Prescription) quotes, I always start with Medicare.gov, so I can see all of the plans listed in the area. While I currently represent 10 companies and 63 plans, there are a couple out there that do not use field agents and keep their products in-house. However, their products still show up on Medicare.gov.

This way, if I see a plan on my initial pass that is noticeably better than anything I carry, I can direct the client to call the customer service number for that plan to get more information, and enroll if they so choose. I cannot help a client enroll in any plan I do not officially represent, but I never want to skip a plan that looks like a better fit, so this seemed like a good compromise. I carry such a wide variety of products though, that since 2016 I can count on one hand the amount of times this has actually ended up happening.

Once I’ve narrowed things down to a couple of promising plans, I start confirming the network statuses of any doctors, specialist, preferred hospitals, preferred pharmacies and most important, prescription drug costs that the client wants to make sure is covered with their new plan.

I also run any hospital indemnity quotes for clients who are concerned about the hospital co-pays and are okay with a small additional premium to cover them.

Does having someone else do all of this research absolutely free sound helpful?

*You need to be enrolled in both Part A and Part B to purchase a Medicare Advantage or a Medicare Supplement plan. Any premiums for Advantage Plans or Medicare Supplements will be in addition to your monthly Part B premium payment (and Part A premium if applicable).

**If you purchase a Medicare Supplement, you will also need to have creditable prescription drug coverage to avoid Federal penalties. If you do not have creditable prescription drug coverage from another source, like Tri-Care, I offer Prescription Drug plans (Part D) to help you meet this requirement.
