FAQ

Q. What do I need in order to sign up for and Advantage Plan, Medicare Supplement, or Part D?

A. You will need your red, white, and blue Medicare card. You must be enrolled in both Part A and Part B of Medicare to enroll in an Advantage plan or Medicare Supplement. You must have Part A or Part B to enroll in Part D.

Depending on the product you are interested in, there may be other eligibility requirements.

Q. How do I get my Medicare card?

A. It will depend on whether or not you need to sign up for Part B, or if you will be enrolled in Part B automatically. For more information please visit “Get Started with Medicare” from Medicare.gov

Q. I enrolled in Part B quite a while ago and I still haven’t received my Medicare card. What do I do?

A. Most people seem to receive their Medicare card in 2-3 weeks. If it has been 3 weeks and you still haven’t received your card, you may want to make a follow-up call and ask about it.

Q. How much does a consultation cost and where do we meet?

A. Our consultations are free of charge. Most clients enjoy the convenience of our home visits, but we are happy to make other arrangements if that works best for you. Many appointments and enrollments can also be done online and over the phone.

Q. So, how do you get paid?

A. Just like your auto or home insurance, the companies we represent pay us when we make a sale. In general, the companies pay about the same per product.

Q. Is my product going to be more expensive if I go through you, instead of signing up myself?

A. No. The premiums do not change due to agent or broker involvement.

Q. I see a Medicare product I like, but you don’t appear to carry it? Can you still help me sign up?

A. Not all companies allow the use of independent agents or brokers for sales. Agents and brokers not authorized to sell with a company (or a particular product within a company), are not legally allowed to help with enrollments for that company/product. However, most companies have customer service contact information on the “Medicare Plan Finder Results” page for help with enrollment.

Q. Can you help me sign up for Social Security?

A. Social Security is separate from Medicare, and not something we are authorized to assist with. You will need to contact the Social Security department for help enrolling in your social security benefits. You can find their contact info here.
